Falkner, Ripley and Walnut in action

Wildcats look to stay undefeated

Walnut could not have asked for a better start to their season. A perfect start has been highlighted by dominant defensive play.  Seniors Rickenta Garth and Kylan Story have paced that unit, with bone crushing hit and big plays. The offense is very balanced, with Kevin Hurley, Wesley Cox and Drew Pitney carrying the bulk of the load. The Wildcats are on the road as they play Fayette (Tn) Academy in Somerville, TN. Kickoff is 7 p.m.

Tigers look to get in the win column

After a bye week, Ripley has a chance to notch a crucial road win as they face Pontotoc. The Warriors come in to the game fresh off a loss last week and sit 4-1 on the season. The Tigers will have to get a solid defensive effort from Antwon Knox making plays in the secondary. As with most games, this game will be decided in the trenches. Ripley needs to use maximum effort to get past All-American center Cole Smith. On offense, the Tigers will lean on dual threat QB Trey Blanchard and hard nosed runner Mikichio . Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. from Pontotoc.

Eagles need another division win

Falkner is the only county team with a home game tonight as they face division foe Okolona. Both teams are coming off big victories last Friday night as Falkner defeated HW Byers and Okolona defeated Ashland. Both teams have the potential for fireworks, but the Eagles will lean heavily on senior QB Autry Windham as talented running back Alex Caldwell is expected to miss the game with an injury sustained last week. Falkners defense will be under immense pressure from Okolona’s wing-T option attack. Could be a shootout, with both teams capable of scoring points in bunches. Kickoff from Falkner is set for 7 p.m.
