Eagles Travel to Myrtle for Week 1 Showdown
Falkner will take on a familiar foe in a road contest to officially get the 2025 football season underway.
The Eagles are headed down to Union County to take on the Myrtle Hawks in what will be the start of the regular season in the second stint for head coach Ben Ashley following a 7-6 jamboree win last week against Alcorn Central.
Myrlte has been a thorn in the side of Falkner as the Eagles hold a 1-3 all time record against the Hawks, including a home loss last year in what was the de-facto district title game.
In 2024, Falkner had an 8-3 record and turned in one of the most successful offensive seasons in school history, averaging over 40 points per contest. The Eagles advanced to the 2nd round of the state playoffs for the first time in 25 years.
For Myrtle, it was their best team in school history, advancing to the third round of the state playoffs for the first time.
Falkner will look for major contributions on the offensive side from standout senior running back Anthony Morgan, newcomer Nolan Ashley and long-time contributor Graydon Newby. On the defensive side of the ball, Malachi Nunley and Zephaniel Flynn both had big plays in the jamboree and the Eagles will look to them to do the same Friday night.
For Myrtle, they bring back 8 starters on offense and defense highlighted my Harlem McClendon and Drew Stanton who are both two way players.
Game time is set for 7 pm and RCTV 19 will be LIVE with game action.
