Barnhardt, Shepherd Lead Toppers at Bryan Phillips Invitational

The University of the Ozarks track and field team showcased its depth and talent at the Bryan Phillips Invitational, held in Searcy, Arkansas. The Toppers earned several victories and top finishes, led by standout performances in distance events.

Jonah Barnhardt won the men’s 5,000 meters with a time of 15:51.83, helping the team secure a dominant presence in the race. Five Topper runners finished inside the top 15, including Erick Flores (seventh), Noah Harrington (10th), J.T. Draper (11th) and Lelan Boulden (14th).

On the women’s side, Ella Shepherd continued her strong season with a victory in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, crossing the line in 11:57.70. Shepherd also finished sixth in the 5,000 meters. Kaedyn Wilson finished second in the women’s 5,000 meters with a time of 19:12.44, while Lauren Paul placed 13th in the same event.

The Toppers also competed in middle-distance races. Lukas Dykes led the men’s 1,500 meters with a 15th-place finish, and teammate Lelan Boulden was 32nd. Dykes also ran in the 800 meters, finishing just behind teammate Ja’Karien Perry, who placed 18th. Samuel Hopper also competed in the event.

In the women’s 1500 meters, Jorja Kate Mooneyhan and Ruth Hutchinson both ran, finishing 24th and 28th, respectively. Mooneyhan led the pair in both the 1500 and 800 meters. Lead Montgomery also competed in the 1500 meters.

Field events saw Abby Laney compete in the women’s discus, finishing 18th with a throw of 27.59 meters. On the men’s side, Braxton Enzor ran in the steeplechase, adding to the team’s efforts in that event.

Overall, the Toppers demonstrated strong individual performances and solid team depth, particularly in distance races, signaling positive momentum in their season progress.
