Blue Mountain Christian completes four-game sweep of Williams Baptist
Walnut Ridge, Ark. — Blue Mountain Christian finished a dominant weekend by sweeping Williams Baptist in a four-game series. The Toppers won the final three games in a row, showcasing timely hitting, solid pitching, and execution in key moments.
Game 2 resumed Thursday morning after being suspended the previous day. The Toppers edged the Eagles 6–5 in 10 innings. Blue Mountain Christian totaled 11 hits, with Jake Meilstrup contributing a multi-hit effort and two RBIs. Gavin Foley delivered a clutch late-inning RBI, and Jesse Hancock pitched three scoreless innings out of the bullpen to earn the win and keep Williams Baptist off the board in extras.
The momentum carried into Friday’s Game 3, where the Toppers shut out the Eagles 5–0. Chris Matthews pitched seven scoreless innings, striking out seven and limiting Williams Baptist’s offensive chances. Offensively, Cody Presley, Trace Roy, Jarret Morris, and Garrett Lance each drove in runs, with Lance adding two RBIs to extend the lead.
The series concluded with an offensive explosion in Game 4, as Blue Mountain Christian defeated Williams Baptist 13–8. The Toppers scored 13 runs on 11 hits, demonstrating power and depth throughout the lineup. Meilstrup homered and drove in three RBIs, while Reise Thomas added a triple and Foley contributed two RBIs. The team built a lead with consistent scoring across multiple innings and held on down the stretch to complete the sweep.
With the series victory, Blue Mountain Christian will return home next weekend to host highly ranked Georgia Gwinnett College.
