Blue Mountain Christian completes series sweep over Faulkner with doubleheader wins
Montgomery, Ala. — Blue Mountain Christian’s baseball team responded strongly after an opening loss to Faulkner, sweeping a doubleheader Saturday and winning the series. The Toppers lost the first game 16-9 but rebounded with wins of 11-5 and 11-4.
In the second game, the Toppers took control early with a seven-run second inning. Key hits included a two-run double from Jake Meilstrup and a two-run home run from Cody Presley. Presley and Meilstrup each drove in three runs. Chris Matthews pitched a complete game, allowing five earned runs over seven innings to earn the win.
The Toppers carried momentum into the third game, taking an early lead and breaking it open with a five-run fourth inning. RBIs from Yaidel Perez, Presley, and Jarrett Morris highlighted the frame. Presley added a sacrifice fly later in the game. Ross Polizzi led the offense with a 4-for-6 effort and an RBI. Presley went 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBIs, and Perez added two RBIs.
