Blue Mountain Christian dominates Stillman in doubleheader sweep

Blue Mountain Christian opened its doubleheader with an 11-0 victory over Stillman College in Tuscaloosa. The Toppers scored seven runs in the second inning and added insurance runs in the fourth and fifth innings to secure the win, according to sources.

Stillman struggled offensively, managing just two hits and committing a key error that contributed to BMCU’s big inning. Aspen Teague led the offensive effort with three RBIs and multiple hits. Maryn Macri went 2-for-2 with two RBIs, including a triple, and Kelsey Camp contributed two hits and an RBI. Rachel Rommel added two RBIs, and the team stole multiple bases, applying pressure on the base paths.

On the mound, Bri Langley pitched a complete game, allowing only two hits and striking out four. Her performance set the tone defensively for the game. The Toppers are scheduled to play at home Tuesday against Williams Baptist.

The teams met again later in the day, with BMCU winning 12-1. The Toppers built early momentum with timely hitting and scored in every inning, extending their lead through multi-run frames in the fourth, fifth, and sixth innings.

Stillman’s only run came late in the sixth inning. Key contributors for BMCU included Bre Ramsey, who had two RBIs and multiple hits; Anna Harrison, with two RBIs; Gail Wisher, who drove in a run and recorded an extra-base hit including a triple; and Vaye Savage, who delivered a three-run triple in the sixth. Aspen Teague, Karen Wisher, and Chloe Shelton also contributed with key hits and RBIs, helping the team total 14 hits.

Jana Shaw was effective on the mound, allowing just one run over six innings. The Toppers will host Williams Baptist on Tuesday.
