Blue Mountain Christian Men’s Tennis loses to Cumberland and Christian Brothers
MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The Blue Mountain Christian men’s tennis team lost two matches on Friday. In the first, they fell to Cumberland, 6-1, and in the afternoon, they were defeated by Christian Brothers, 7-0.
In the opening match against Cumberland, the Toppers earned their only point on the day with a singles win from Adriaan Engelbrecht on Court 1, who defeated his opponent 6-2, 6-2. Cumberland took the doubles point, and the Toppers’ other singles players, including Kevin Kotze, Pablo Cruz, Luis Lainer, Shriraam Anbanantan, and Craig Blevins, all lost their matches.
Later Friday afternoon, Blue Mountain Christian faced Christian Brothers. The Buccaneers secured the doubles point once again. A close doubles match on Court 3 ended 6-3 in favor of Christian Brothers. Engelbrecht challenged on Court 1 but was defeated 5-7, 0-6. Lainer played well on singles Court 4 but lost 1-6, 5-7. The Toppers’ overall record now stands at 2-1.
Blue Mountain Christian is scheduled to return to action February 27 against Missouri Baptist in Little Rock, Arkansas, at 2 p.m. Central Time, according to team officials.
