Blue Mountain Christian splits doubleheader with dominant nightcap win
Blue Mountain Christian baseball split a doubleheader Tuesday at Topper Field, losing the opener 10-4 before winning the nightcap 16-0 via run rule, according to team sources.
In the first game, the Toppers recorded nine hits and maintained offensive rhythm throughout. Ross Polizzi led at the plate with three hits and three runs scored. Trace Roy added two hits and two RBIs, while Garret Lance homered to spark momentum. Cody Pressly contributed two hits as Blue Mountain pressed offensively. Despite the offensive effort, Rust capitalized on key innings, finishing with 12 hits to secure the victory.
The nightcap was a different story. Blue Mountain Christian delivered one of its most complete performances of the season, overwhelming Rust 16-0 in five innings. The Toppers scored in four of the five frames, with a decisive fifth inning explosion.
Cody Pressly was the standout at the plate, launching three homers and driving in five RBIs. Polizzi added two RBIs and a homer, while Reise Thomas contributed two hits and scored three times. Jarret Morris and Spencer Wilson also contributed offensively, showcasing the team’s depth.
On the mound, JD Klug threw a complete-game shutout, striking out 12 and allowing just four hits. His commanding performance kept Rust from gaining any offensive traction, sealing the dominant victory.
After a competitive first game, Blue Mountain Christian demonstrated resilience, offensive firepower, and strong pitching to earn the split. The team continues to build momentum as the season advances.
