Blue Mountain Christian University men’s tennis falls to Freed-Hardeman in non-conference match
JACKSON, Tenn. — The Blue Mountain Christian University men’s tennis team competed against Freed-Hardeman University in a non-conference match Saturday, with several players delivering strong individual performances. The Toppers ultimately fell in the team competition.
In doubles play, Adriaan Engelbrecht and Luis Lainer fought closely at the No. 1 position but lost 6-4. Caleb Rogers and Craig Blevins also competed hard but were defeated 6-3. Blue Mountain found success at the No. 3 doubles slot, where Pablo Cruz and Kevin Kotzé secured a 6-2 victory, giving the Toppers momentum heading into singles.
In singles, Engelbrecht posted a straight-set victory, 6-3, 6-4. Kotzé also earned a point with a convincing 6-2, 6-3 win. Cruz played a tightly contested match, narrowly falling 10-8 in a tiebreak. Luis Langerholz, Shiraam Anbanantan, and Rogers continued to compete hard against a tough Freed-Hardeman lineup.
Blue Mountain will look to build on the positives from the match as their season continues, according to team officials.
