Blue Mountain Women’s Tennis Shows Fight Against Freed-Hardeman
Jackson, Tenn. — The Blue Mountain Christian University women’s tennis team faced Freed-Hardeman University on the road, demonstrating determination throughout the lineup. The Toppers continued to gain experience against a strong opponent.
In doubles, the No. 1 pair of Camila Mordiz and Eugenia Ramos put together a competitive effort but fell 6-4. Lucia Garcia and Lina Cetina faced a tough matchup at No. 2 doubles, while Nami Malyaporn and Kiersten Terris narrowly lost a 7-5 decision in one of the closest matches of the day.
Blue Mountain found success in singles play, winning two matches. Cetina led the way with a 7-6 (7-4) tiebreak win in the first set before closing out with a 6-3 second set. Ramos dominated her opponent, winning 6-0, 6-0. Malyaporn responded from a 6-3 first-set loss to take the second set 6-1 and push the match to a tiebreak before ultimately falling.
Additional singles efforts from Mordiz, Garcia, and Terris kept the Toppers competitive. Blue Mountain aims to carry the momentum from its singles victories into upcoming matches as the season progresses.
