Brewton-Parker tops Blue Mountain Christian in SSAC game
Mount Vernon, Ga. — The Blue Mountain Christian University Toppers lost 77-62 to Brewton-Parker Christian in a Southern States Athletic Conference game Tuesday night.
From the opening tip, BMCU showed energy and competitive spirit, trading early baskets and briefly holding a lead in the first half. The Toppers maintained a close game through contributions from across the roster, with junior forward Gavin Shannon scoring 25 points and showcasing leadership on both ends.
Jonathan Baker added 16 points and dished out nine assists, orchestrating BMCU’s offense and creating scoring opportunities. Guard Michael Hill scored seven points off the bench, while Esrael Yant contributed six points and seven rebounds. Chris Carter and RJ Robinson scored three and two points, respectively.
Despite flashes of promise, including a late second-half run sparked by Shannon’s three-pointer, Brewton-Parker extended its lead in the second half. Turnovers down the stretch allowed the Barons to pull away.
The Toppers will return home Thursday for a game against the Life Running Eagles, seeking to bounce back from the loss, according to the school.
