Thomasville, Ga. — The Blue Mountain Christian University Toppers fell to the Thomas Nighthawks 13-2 Saturday in the final game of their Southern States Athletic Conference series.
Thomas scored four runs in the second inning and added five more in the third to build a commanding lead. The Nighthawks added one run in the fourth to extend their advantage.
Blue Mountain Christian broke through in the fifth inning when Cody Presley singled to left field, driving in Gavin Foley. The Toppers added another run in the sixth on an RBI single from Jake Meilstrup that scored Jarrett Morris.
Presley and Meilstrup drove in runs for Blue Mountain Christian, while Jacob Bryant and Foley contributed on the bases. Benji Webb took the loss on the mound, tossing 2.1 innings with one strikeout. Relief pitchers Christian Maness, Chip Harris, Judson Griffin, and Jesse Hancock also appeared, with Hancock recording a scoreless inning and a strikeout.
Blue Mountain Christian will prepare for its next conference matchup, seeking to bounce back from the loss.
