Eagles Edge Golden Bears 7-6 in Jamboree Thriller
Head Coach Ben Ashley picked up a win in his return to the sideline leading the Falkner Eagle football program.
The Eagles made the most of a late defensive stand to edge out the Alcorn Central Golden Bears 7-6 in jamboree action Friday night.
The Golden Bears struck first on their opening possession, connecting on a 47-yard touchdown pass. However, the extra point attempt missed, leaving the score 6-0.
The Eagles answered on their first drive. Quarterback Nolan Ashley found Graydon Newby for a 30-yard touchdown strike, and Abraham Alvarez nailed the extra point to put Falkner ahead 7-6.

Senior running back Anthony Morgan carried the load offensively for the Eagles, piling up more than 100 total yards. His biggest play came on a swing pass from Ashley that he turned into a 37-yard gain, helping Falkner maintain momentum.
Defensively, the Eagles made the game’s biggest plays. Malakhi Nunley intercepted a Golden Bears pass late in the first quarter, halting a drive in Falkner territory. In the closing minute, with Alcorn Central threatening, Zephaniel Flynn forced a fumble on a quarterback scramble that was recovered by Nicholas Hopper. From there, the Eagles went into victory formation to close out the win.
Falkner’s balanced offensive attack and stingy defense proved to be the difference in the hard-fought matchup, as the Eagles walked away with a 7-6 jamboree victory over the Golden Bears.
