Blue Mountain boys down Walnut in hard fought TCT game
Blue Mountain boys used a hot start, making 7 or their first 8 field goal attempts, to build a 14-8 first quarter advantage and was able to close out Walnut with a 60-55 Tippah County Tournament victory.
The first quarter saw David Peterson and Deshawn Tyler, who hit 4 three pointers in the game, combine for 13 of their team’s 14 points.
The Cougars lead was only 1 after 3 quarters of play thanks to 11 points from Jaden Hall and they led by just 2 with 2 minutes to play, but they were able to get key defensive stops and hit 7 of 9 to maintain the lead and secure the victory.
Hall finished with a team high 17. Peterson contributed 14 while Tyler had 13.
For Walnut, Khris Perry led with 20. Brantley Porterfield had 18 on 6 made 3-pointers while Kevin Hurley finished with 10 Points and 19 rebounds.
Blue Mountain moves on to play Ripley tonight in the second round of the Tournament, with the winner advancing to play Falkner in the Championship on Saturday.
