Blue Mountain Christian Men’s Golf Sets Program Record at Carey Collegiate

The Blue Mountain Christian University men’s golf team finished fourth at the Carey Collegiate presented by Walk-On’s at Canebrake Golf Club in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. The tournament featured a highly competitive field of 15 teams, including five NAIA programs ranked in the Top 15 nationally.

Alex Nordstrom led the Toppers with a third-place finish, shooting rounds of 70, 71, and 65 for a total of 206. His final round of 65 set a new program record for the lowest score in BMCU men’s golf history, finishing six under par on the Canebrake layout. Nordstrom’s performance helped propel the team to a strong showing against top-ranked competition.

Cobey Riddle tied for fifth place after rounds of 69, 68, and 71, finishing with a total of 208. His consistent play was a key contribution to the team’s overall success. Simon Meiby also posted a solid performance, finishing in the top 20 with a total of 215 after rounds of 72, 69, and 74, highlighted by a three-under-par second round.

Damil Ataullah finished with a total score of 222 (71-75-76), placing inside the top 40, while Acen Lambert ended 49th with a total of 225 after rounds of 75, 73, and 77. The team’s strong performance included multiple under-par rounds and a program-record score, demonstrating continued momentum for the Toppers heading into the spring season.

Head coach Kevin Barefield praised his team’s effort against one of the season’s strongest fields. “Any time you can finish near the top of a field with this many ranked teams, it says a lot about the way our guys competed,” Barefield said. “Alex’s record-setting round was special to watch, and Cobey played outstanding golf all week. We had several guys step up, and this tournament showed that we can compete with some of the best programs in the country.”
