New Albany, Miss. — The Blue Mountain Christian University men’s tennis team faced Missouri Baptist on Tuesday, falling 7-0 in a home match. Despite the loss, the Toppers displayed competitive spirit as they prepare for conference play.
In doubles action, Adriaan Engelbrecht and Luis Lainer played a close match at the top spot, losing 6-4. Caleb Rogers and Craig Blevins also competed tightly but were defeated by the same margin. Pablo Cruz and Kevin Kotzé rounded out doubles play, dropping their match 6-2.
During singles competition, Missouri Baptist swept all six matches. Lainer highlighted the effort with a close contest that was decided in a tiebreaker, where he lost 7-4. The rest of the lineup continued to compete but were unable to secure a point.
The match served as preparation for Blue Mountain, which now shifts focus to Southern States Athletic Conference play. The Toppers will travel to Montgomery, Alabama, on Thursday to begin conference competition.
