Blue Mountain Christian splits doubleheader at Tennessee Wesleyan

ATHENS, Tenn. — Blue Mountain Christian University’s baseball team split a road doubleheader Friday against Tennessee Wesleyan. The Toppers won the first game 9-6 but lost the second 12-2.

In the opening game, Blue Mountain Christian jumped to an early lead with three runs in the first inning. The team responded after Tennessee Wesleyan erased its lead, regaining control with key at-bats in the middle innings. The Toppers finished with 15 hits and scored late to secure the victory.

Jake Meilstrup led the offense with three hits and two runs scored. Jarret Morris also had three hits and drove in a run. Hugh Parsons provided a spark off the bench with a two-RBI pinch-hit single, and Trace Roy added an RBI double. Blue Mountain Christian added insurance runs in the sixth and seventh innings.

The second game saw Tennessee Wesleyan build momentum early, extending its lead with multiple-run innings. The Toppers scored in the fourth inning when Roy drove in Reise Thomas. Thomas finished with a hit and a run scored, while Roy had an RBI. Despite the loss, Blue Mountain Christian continued to compete across its lineup.

The team will return home Tuesday to host Rust College.
