Blue Mountain Christian University baseball sweeps doubleheader at Rust College
The Blue Mountain Christian University baseball team swept a doubleheader at Rust College on Wednesday, winning 30-4 and 9-4, according to team sources.
In the opener, the Toppers scored three runs in the first inning and exploded for five in the second. They broke the game open with a 15-run fourth inning, finishing with 19 hits. Cody Presley led the offense with three hits, seven RBIs, and two home runs. Jacob Bryant also had three hits and five RBIs, while Jake Meilstrup scored five runs and added three hits. Ross Polizzi contributed two hits and four RBIs, and Jarrett Morris had two hits and three RBIs.
On the mound, JD Klug earned the win after allowing one run over four innings with three strikeouts. Relief came from Jack Hearn, Jesse Mellinger, and Jabari Farr.
The Toppers carried their momentum into the second game, jumping out to an early lead. A four-run third inning created separation, and Rust attempted a rally with three runs in the fifth. Blue Mountain responded with three insurance runs in the seventh to secure the 9-4 victory.
Ross Polizzi again led offensively, going 3-for-5 with a home run and two RBIs. Hugh Parsons went 3-for-4 with an RBI, and Jacob Bryant drove in two runs. Judson Griffin earned the win in relief, and Jarrett Morris closed the game for the save.
Blue Mountain looks to carry their winning streak into upcoming conference games, aiming to build on this midweek sweep.
