Blue Mountain falls to Missouri Baptist in women’s tennis
The Blue Mountain Christian University women’s tennis team hosted Missouri Baptist on Tuesday afternoon, suffering a 5-2 loss. Several matches were tightly contested throughout the lineup, with the doubles point especially competitive.
In doubles action, Camila Mordiz and Eugenia Ramos pushed Missouri Baptist to a tiebreaker but fell 7-4. Lina Cetina and Lucia Garcia also lost a close match in a 7-4 tiebreaker. Nami Malyaporn and Kiersten Terris lost their doubles match 6-1.
In singles play, Mordiz secured the only straight-sets victory for Blue Mountain, winning 6-2, 6-4. Ramos also earned a point with a three-set win that was decided in a third-set tiebreaker. Cetina, Garcia, Malyaporn, and Terris all fought hard but were unable to finish with wins. Malyaporn’s match was particularly competitive, pushing her opponent to a third set before falling short.
The match served as valuable preparation for the Toppers as they prepare to open conference play. Blue Mountain is set to travel to Montgomery, Alabama, on Thursday for their SSAC opener.
