Mobile’s Rams sweep Blue Mountain in doubleheader
The Blue Mountain Christian Toppers suffered a doubleheader sweep at the hands of the University of Mobile Rams on Friday in SSAC play. Mobile won Game 1 12-2 in seven innings and took the nightcap 12-6 over nine innings.
In the first game, the Toppers took an early lead when Ross Polizzi drove in Gavin Foley with an RBI single in the third inning. Mobile responded with a five-run inning to take control of the game. The Rams added four runs in the fourth and three in the sixth to extend their lead. Blue Mountain Christian finished with five hits, with Polizzi, Foley, Yaidel Perez, Trace Roy, and Cody Presley all contributing offensively. Jake Meilstrup also drove in a run with a sacrifice fly.
The second game saw more offensive consistency from the Toppers, who scored six runs on multiple hits throughout the lineup. Despite their efforts, Mobile used several multi-run innings to separate from Blue Mountain Christian. Presley, Perez, and Foley led the offensive charge, with multiple players contributing RBIs as the game progressed.
The Toppers will look to bounce back in the series finale on Saturday, scheduled for 1 p.m. as they attempt to avoid a sweep in the three-game series against Mobile.
