Cougars pick up win in final game of regular season
Blue Mountain is needing a win in the district 1-1A basketball tournament to continue their season into the 1A playoffs.
They picked up a pair of wins in the final week of the regular season to build momentum to do just that.
The Cougars got a district win over Jumpertown 65-62 on Tuesday then defeated TCPS 62-50 on Thursday to close out the regular season. Blue Mountain enters the district tournament as the #4 seed, needing to defeat Jumpertown on Tuesday to continue their season.
Against TCPS in the regular season finale, Blue Mountain jumped out to a 9-0 lead in the opening quarter and held off a run by the visiting Eagles to take a 16-14 advantage after the first period.
The Cougars would never trail from there.
DeShawn Tyler led with 19 points, Jaden Hall had 15 and Trent Gray finished with 10.
The Lady Cougars fell in the season finale to TCPS by a score of 43-29. Teauna Foote led Blue Mountain with 11 points.
