Walnut opens its three-game football region schedule Friday with a chance to pull even for the season, hosting Hamilton in a meeting of 3–4 teams on senior night. The Wildcats’ Oct. 16 home game anchors a night of region contests for all three Tippah County football programs.
Falkner, 3–3 after last week’s 28–22 victory at Riverside, visits winless Ashland. Ripley, 1–6 and seeking its first region win, travels to 2–5 Byhalia. All three kickoffs are listed for 7 p.m. on MaxPreps; Ripley’s school calendar also places its game Friday.
No completed varsity result was verified for Thursday, Oct. 15, across Blue Mountain, Falkner, Pine Grove, Ripley and Walnut. Their next posted events follow, with all times Central.
The next championship trip belongs to Falkner’s girls golfers, whose division runner-up finish qualified them for the Oct. 19–20 state match in Brookhaven. No tee time is listed.
Cross-country regionals bring all five schools into next week’s schedule. Blue Mountain’s meet organizer lists Oct. 20 at the Blue Mountain College trail, girls at 4 p.m. and boys at 4:35. At the Oct. 22 regional in New Albany, using BNA Park and Tallahatchie Trails, Ripley’s girls start at 10 a.m. and boys at 10:30. Falkner, Pine Grove and Walnut have girls’ races at 11 and boys’ races at 11:30.
Ripley then hosts Caledonia in soccer Oct. 26, girls at 5 p.m. and boys at 7. Basketball’s first posted dates are Oct. 31: Walnut’s girls at Saltillo, 10:30 a.m.; Pine Grove’s boys at East Union, noon; and Pine Grove’s girls at Hatley, 1:15 p.m.
Nov. 3 brings Falkner’s girls to Ripley at 6:30 p.m. and Thrasher to Blue Mountain, girls at 6 and boys at 7:30. Walnut’s boys host Tishomingo County Nov. 7 at 1:30 p.m. Ripley’s boys next host New Albany Nov. 10 at 7; Falkner’s boys host Myrtle that evening at 7:30.
The Pine Grove calendar lists archery against visiting Wheeler Jan. 28, 2027, time unposted, and Blue Mountain’s next match at Pine Grove Feb. 25 at 5 p.m.
