Connect Four: Lady Panther seniors lead team to fourth straight state title
It was a shiny new venue for the state championship game this season at the Pavilion at Ole Miss.
New place. Same result.
The Lady Panthers are your state champions for the fourth straight season after defeating the Baldwyn Lady Bearcats 48-41 on Thursday.
Pine Grove got a hard fought win thanks to clutch plays and standout performances from a pair of standout seniors. Loren Elliott finished with 21 points and 10 rebounds while Karlie Rogers led with 19 rebounds and 20 points.
The Lady Panthers led for the majority of the game, but Baldwyn used aggressive trapping defense and big shots from Amarie Anderson who finished with 21 and I’Yana Ragin who added 11 to keep cutting into the Panthers advantage.
Ultimately, the Lady Panther experience won out as they got big plays down the stretch from Bella Jumper, Elliott and Rogers.
The trio of seniors on the court scored every point for Pine Grove.
