Ripley wins Class 4A golf title; McAlister, Behm finish in top three

Ripley won the MHSAA Class 4A boys golf state championship Tuesday, Oct. 27, with Parker McAlister and Baker Behm both finishing among the state’s top three individuals. The Tigers’ title at Dancing Rabbit in Philadelphia gave Tippah County a championship result as the fall postseason moved toward this week’s cross-country finals.

Ripley Main Street announced the team victory and the two top-three finishes Tuesday. The Class 4A tournament was scheduled for Monday and Tuesday on Dancing Rabbit’s Azaleas course, with Choctaw Central serving as host, according to the championship listings.

For McAlister, the finish marked a step up from seventh place at the 2025 state tournament. MHSAA’s results from last year show him shooting 83 and 78 for a two-round 161. New Albany won that team championship; this year, the title belongs to Ripley.

Behm joined McAlister near the top of the individual standings, giving the Tigers two prominent finishes alongside their team trophy. Their exact positions, round scores and Ripley’s winning margin were not available on the tournament leaderboard Wednesday morning.

The county’s next scheduled state-championship competition comes Thursday, Oct. 29. The MileSplit team calendars for Blue Mountain, Pine Grove and Walnut list the MHSAA Class 1A, 2A and 3A cross-country championships in Jackson. Ripley’s calendar places its state meet Saturday, Oct. 31, when Classes 4A through 7A compete.

Thursday also brings two varsity football games on the North Tippah district calendar. Falkner hosts Potts Camp for Senior Night, while Walnut travels to Baldwyn. Both kickoffs are listed for 7 p.m. Central, putting the Eagles at home and the Wildcats on the road after the day’s state cross-country competition.

Basketball follows as the calendar turns to November. Blue Mountain’s girls and boys both list home games against Thrasher on Tuesday, Nov. 3, with the girls scheduled for 6 p.m. and the boys for 7:30 p.m. Central.
