Bethel edges Blue Mountain in close battle
McKenzie, Tenn. — The Blue Mountain Christian Toppers came up just short in an 84-79 loss to the Bethel Wildcats on Friday night in McKenzie, Tennessee. Blue Mountain started the game confidently, trading baskets with Bethel early and establishing an offensive rhythm.
Bethel used a late first-half push to build a four-point lead, with the Toppers trailing 44-41 at halftime. The second half remained competitive, with Blue Mountain responding to each Bethel run. The Toppers relied on strong guard play and perimeter shooting to stay within striking distance, trimming the deficit multiple times in the final 10 minutes.
Despite a late rally that kept the outcome in doubt, Bethel’s efficiency and rebounding proved decisive in the closing moments. Michael Hill led Blue Mountain with 23 points and seven rebounds. Jalen Boyd-Savage added 19 points, including four three-pointers, while Gavin Shannon finished with 13 points. The Toppers placed three players in double figures but couldn’t overcome Bethel’s late-game execution.
Blue Mountain showed resilience and competitiveness throughout the game, highlighting the team’s growth as the season continues. They will face the Rust Bearcats on Monday night, according to team officials.
