Blue Mountain Christian Men’s Golf Finishes Fourth at Coastal Georgia Winter Invite

ST. SIMONS ISLAND, Ga. — Blue Mountain Christian’s men’s golf team finished fourth at the Coastal Georgia Winter Invite, competing against one of the strongest NAIA fields of the season. The tournament was held on a par-72 course measuring 7,014 yards and featured multiple nationally ranked programs, including No. 2 Reinhardt and No. 8 Ave Maria.

Simon Meiby led the Toppers, tying for fifth individually after rounds of 73, 75, and 70 for a total of 218. His final-round 70 helped him close out the tournament with strong composure. Alex Nordstrom also posted a top-10 finish, tying for seventh with rounds of 72, 72, and 76, finishing at 220.

Acen Lambert contributed a solid performance with a 13th-place finish, thanks in part to a second-round 69 — one of the lowest rounds of the tournament for Blue Mountain. Lambert’s total was 222 after rounds of 75, 69, and 78. Damil Ataullah finished 27th overall with rounds of 71, 75, and 80, totaling 226, while Cobey Riddle tied for 57th at 234.

Head coach Kevin Barefield praised his team’s effort against top-ranked competition. “I’m really proud of how our guys competed from start to finish,” Barefield said. “This was a strong, nationally ranked field on a championship-caliber course, and we proved we can play with anyone. Simon closing with a 70 was big-time, and having multiple guys in the top 15 shows the depth we’re building. This is the standard we want to compete at.”

The Toppers demonstrated depth, consistency, and resilience against elite programs. Their performances highlight Blue Mountain Christian’s growing presence among competitive NAIA golf programs as the season progresses.
