Blue Mountain Christian Sweeps No. 19 UT Southern in Historic Softball Doubleheader
Blue Mountain, Miss. — Blue Mountain Christian University softball extended its historic season Saturday by sweeping No. 19 UT Southern at the BMCU Sportsplex. The Toppers secured their victories with a dramatic walk-off in game one and a commanding performance in game two.
In the first game, Blue Mountain rallied from behind to win 6-5 in eight innings. Aspen Teague drove in two runs, including a game-tying hit in the seventh inning. Bre Ramsey delivered the game-winning double to left-center field, sealing the victory. Anna Harrison also contributed two RBIs, while Ramsey and Teague each had two hits. Madison Montgomery earned the win with an eight-inning complete game, despite taking a line drive off her body during the contest.
The Toppers carried that momentum into the second game, winning 7-2. Blue Mountain built an early lead and broke the game open in the fifth inning with Ramsey’s three-run triple. Ramsey finished with a 2-for-3 showing and four RBIs. Aspen Teague and Mikaylah Fuqua added multi-hit performances. Neely Cooper pitched a complete game, allowing two runs on five hits and striking out seven, helping Blue Mountain control the game from start to finish.
With the sweep, Blue Mountain Christian not only defeated a ranked opponent but also set a new program record for most wins in a single season. The victories mark a significant milestone for the Toppers during what has been a historic year for the program.
