Pine Grove and Ripley will meet as familiar foes in a familiar setting: the finals of the Tippah County tournament.
In 2017, the Lady Tigers came out on top. In 2018, it was the Lady Panthers victorious.
2019 is the rubber match for all of the marbles, county supremacy.
Pine Grove is coming off a 70-41 win over Walnut yesterday, led by four Lady Panthers with at least 11 points: Kenzie Miller, Karlie Rogers, Taylor Fletcher and Loren Elliott.
Ripley is coming off a gritty win against a scrappy Blue Mountain bunch, winning 61-37. Siarra Jackson had 21 and Summer Kirkman added 11.
What to expect?
Defense. Lots and lots of defense. Both teams pride themselves on their defensive prowess and for good reason.
Intesity. This is not a division game, as Ripley competes in 4A while Pine Grove competes in 1A. Both teams have asperations beyond a county championship. But both teams, coaches and fanbases want this win.
Expect a big crowd. Show up early. Be loud supporting your team.
Buckle up. It should be quite the ride.
