Blue Mountain Christian Softball Sweeps Bethel in Doubleheader
The Blue Mountain Christian softball team swept Bethel in a midweek doubleheader Tuesday, earning victories of 11-1 and 12-0 in McKenzie, Tennessee, according to team sources.
In the first game, the Toppers took control early, scoring in each of the first three innings. Maryn Macri drew a bases-loaded walk in the first inning to score Anna Harrison. Blue Mountain Christian added three more runs in the second, highlighted by an RBI walk from Mikaylah Fuqua and a sacrifice fly from Aspen Teague.
The Toppers continued to apply pressure throughout the game. Rachel Rommel drove in a run in the third inning, and Macri added another RBI in the fourth. They extended their lead in the sixth and seventh innings with five additional runs, including an RBI double from Fuqua and two RBIs from Lakyn Nichols and Macri. The team finished with 12 hits in the game.
Fuqua led the offense, going 3-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs scored. Anna Harrison scored four runs and had two hits, while Nichols and Rommel each added two hits and an RBI. Madison Montgomery earned the win in the circle, tossing a complete game with six hits allowed, one run, and five strikeouts.
The second game saw Blue Mountain Christian continue its offensive surge, scoring eight runs in the second inning. Nichols started the scoring with a two-RBI triple, followed by Bre Ramsey’s RBI double. Aspen Teague added an RBI single, and Kelsey Camp hit a four-RBI home run to extend the lead to 8-0.
The team added three more runs in the third, including a two-RBI single from Harrison, and scored their final run in the fifth on an RBI single by Morgan Dupree. Camp again led the offense, going 3-for-3 with four RBIs and two runs scored. Nichols added two hits and RBIs, while Ramsey contributed two hits and two runs scored.
Neely Cooper pitched three scoreless innings with three strikeouts for the win, and Janna Shaw finished the game with two more scoreless innings to secure the shutout. The Toppers aim to carry their momentum into their next matchup, according to team officials.
