Blue Mountain Christian softball team sets program record with 13-0 start after doubleheader sweep
Blue Mountain, Miss. — Blue Mountain Christian’s softball team extended its undefeated streak to 13-0 Thursday, marking the best start in program history. The Toppers achieved a doubleheader sweep against an unspecified opponent.
In the first game, Blue Mountain Christian controlled play from the start. The team scored early and maintained pressure throughout the game, finishing with 10 hits. Players Maryn Macri, Mikaylah Fuqua, Karen Wisher, Rachel Rommel, and Neely Barrier each drove in runs. Barrier contributed a key extra-base hit late in the game. Madison Montgomery pitched a complete game, allowing just one run over seven innings. The defense was error-free and made routine plays behind Montgomery.
The momentum carried into the second game, where the Toppers again jumped out to an early lead and kept control. They scored in multiple innings with timely hitting and aggressive base running. Macri led the offense with a multi-RBI performance, and several players added hits and runs. The pitching staff combined to hold the opponent to just two hits in a shutout.
With the sweep, Blue Mountain Christian not only remained undefeated but also set a new program record for the best season start. The team’s success has been attributed to strong performances in pitching, hitting, and fielding.
