Blue Mountain Christian Women’s Track and Field Finishes Strong at SSAC Championships
The Blue Mountain Christian women’s track and field team wrapped up its season at the SSAC Championships in Gulf Shores, Alabama, with a strong performance highlighted by three podium finishes and numerous personal bests, according to team sources.
Kaedyn Wilson led the way for the Toppers, taking third place in both the 5,000-meter and 10,000-meter races. The freshman clocked a personal record of 18:50.63 in the 5K and set a school record with a time of 39:59.42 in the 10K. Her efforts contributed to the team’s overall success, officials said.
Ella Shepherd added a second-place finish in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 12:06.54. She also helped the 4×800-meter relay team place fifth overall, showcasing the team’s depth in distance events. Jorja Kate Mooneyhan recorded a personal best in the 800 meters, finishing 10th in 2:35.02, while Ruth Hutchinson achieved personal bests in the 1,500 meters and 800 meters, finishing 14th and 16th, respectively.
Additional contributions came from Leah Montgomery in the 1,500 meters and Lauren Paul in the 5,000 meters. In field events, Abby Laney posted a season-best discus throw of 29.15 meters, finishing 10th overall. The team’s relay squad of Shepherd, Mooneyhan, Hutchinson, and Wilson placed fifth in the 4×800 relay, highlighting the team’s endurance and versatility.
Blue Mountain Christian concluded its 2026 season with a notable showing at the SSAC Championships, earning three podium finishes, setting multiple personal records, and breaking a school record, according to school officials.
