Montgomery, Alabama — Alex Nordstrom of Blue Mountain Christian University has been named the Southern States Athletic Conference Men’s Golfer of the Week. Nordstrom secured the individual title at the Coastal Georgia Fall Invitational at Sea Palms Golf Resort in St. Simons Island, Georgia.
Nordstrom shot a three-round total of 12-under par, finishing with a score of 199 (70-65-64) on the par-71 course. He improved his score each round, opening with a 70, followed by a 65, and closing with a 64. His performance helped No. 16 BMCU finish as the runner-up in a 15-team field.
“Alex was outstanding all week,” BMCU head coach Kevin Barefield said. “He stayed patient, trusted his game and continued to get better as the tournament went along. Shooting 65 and 64 in the final two rounds is impressive golf, and I’m proud of the way he competed and helped put our team in a position to have a strong finish.”
Nordstrom’s victory highlighted a strong start to the season for the Toppers, who placed three golfers inside the top seven individually. The weekly honor follows his standout performance last season when he earned All-American honors as a top player for BMCU.
