William Carey edges Blue Mountain Christian in season finale

Hattiesburg, Miss. — Blue Mountain Christian built an early lead but fell to William Carey 12-8 in the season-ending game Friday. The Toppers jumped out to a 4-0 advantage in the second inning after a grand slam.

Blue Mountain Christian continued to apply pressure in the fifth inning, with Trace Roy driving in two runs on a single to extend the lead to 6-0. William Carey responded in the bottom half with a series of runs, closing the gap to 6-3. The Toppers pushed the lead to 7-3 in the sixth when Ross Polizzi scored on Jacob Bryant’s fielder’s choice, and they added another run in the seventh on an RBI single from Reise Thomas.

The Toppers finished with 11 hits, led by Jarrett Morris, who went 3-for-3 with two runs scored. Roy contributed two hits and two RBIs, while Cody Presley added a double in his multi-hit effort. On the mound, Chris Matthews pitched 4.1 innings, allowing two earned runs. Caleb Hall followed with 2.2 innings in relief for Blue Mountain Christian.

William Carey mounted a rally in the eighth inning, scoring eight runs to take the lead. Despite the comeback, Blue Mountain Christian demonstrated consistent offensive production across multiple innings and challenged a nationally ranked opponent. The team acknowledged its seniors for their leadership and effort during the 2026 season.
