Walnut moves to 4-1 as they run past Myrtle
The Walnut Wildcats knew coming in to Friday nights contest against Myrtle that they would need to bottle up the Hawks star running bacl AI Nugent.
Consider mission accomplished.
Walnut held Nugent in check for most of the night until the game was firmly in hand and came away with a 30-6 victory over their Union County foe.
The Wildcats led 14-0 at the half and were up 30-0 late in the 4th quarter before Myrtle found the endzone on a long Nugent run.
Walnut speedster TJ Colom continued his dominating offense season, accounting for three total touchdowns and 241 all purpose yards that included 120 2nd quarter rushing yards. He added an interception on defense.
Cade Hunt hit Colom and Chase Rogers for touchdown passes and Brandon Shields for a pair of two point conversions on the night.
Walnut’s defense held Myrtle to under 200 yards of total offense for the game.
