Pine Grove takes on unbeaten East Union as Tippah teams look ahead

Pine Grove gets another chance at East Union’s unbeaten volleyball team Monday, hosting the 23–0 Urchins at 6:30 p.m. The Panthers, 13–9, lost their Aug. 8 meeting 2–0; this time, they bring a five-set victory over county rival Falkner into the matchup.

No completed varsity result was verified for Sunday, Sept. 13, across Blue Mountain, Falkner, Pine Grove, Ripley and Walnut. The county’s next posted contests therefore lead this Sept. 14 roundup. All times below are Central.

Monday’s other volleyball matches send Ripley to Kossuth and Falkner to New Site at 6 p.m., while Walnut hosts Baldwyn at 6:30. Walnut enters 19–4 overall and 3–0 in district play; Baldwyn is the Wildcats’ next district opponent. These are the varsity times on the teams’ MaxPreps schedules.

Football returns Friday, Sept. 18, with Ripley hosting East Webster and Walnut visiting Alcorn Central, both at 7 p.m. Falkner’s next listed game is its Sept. 25 homecoming against East Union, also at 7.

Before those kickoffs, the North Tippah calendar sends Walnut golf to Booneville on Sept. 17 at 8:30 a.m. and Falkner there for a nine-hole match at 2 p.m. The listings do not identify opponents, courses or boys’ and girls’ divisions.

Saturday’s cross-country schedule splits the county between two venues. Blue Mountain, Pine Grove and Walnut list the Ingomar Invitational at BNA Tennis Park in New Albany on Sept. 19, with varsity girls at approximately 9 a.m. and boys at 9:30. Ripley lists Saltillo’s invitational, where its 1A–4A races begin at 5 p.m. for girls and 5:45 for boys on the high-school campus. Falkner’s next meet is Topper Trails in Blue Mountain on Sept. 24: girls at 4:15 p.m., boys at 5, on BMCU’s trails opposite the baseball/softball complex.

The posted winter schedules begin with Ripley hosting Caledonia in soccer Oct. 26, girls at 5 p.m. and boys at 7. Basketball follows Nov. 3: Blue Mountain hosts Thrasher and Pine Grove visits Houlka, each with girls at 6 p.m. and boys at 7:30. Ripley hosts Falkner’s girls that evening at 6.

The next boys’ basketball dates are Nov. 7 for Walnut, hosting Tishomingo County at 1:30 p.m.; and Nov. 10 for Ripley, hosting New Albany at 7, and Falkner, hosting Myrtle at 7:30. Walnut’s girls next list Corinth at home Nov. 12 at 6.

Spring’s earliest posted softball games are Ripley–New Albany, Feb. 9, 2027, at Ripley, 6:30 p.m.; Falkner–New Site, Feb. 19 at Falkner, 5:30; Pine Grove at Tupelo Christian Prep, Feb. 26, 5; and Walnut–New Site, March 16 at Walnut, 5:30.

Baseball’s next listings are Falkner at Tremont, Feb. 22, 2027, 6 p.m.; Ripley at Pontotoc, March 5, 7; Pine Grove against Lexington at a neutral site March 20, 10 a.m., venue unspecified; and Walnut at Alcorn Central that day, 11 a.m.
