Falkner boys headed to state basketball playoffs for first time since 2015 with victory over Byers
Falkner continues its bounce back season during head coach Austin Hopper’s first season at the helm, punching their ticket to the state basketball playoffs for the first time since 2015.
The Eagles pulled off the upset as the 6th seed in their district tournament by defeating 3 seed HW Byers.
Falkner trailed at the end of each quarter heading to the fourth in a back and forth contest but got clutch plays late to secure the 56-51 victory.
Brooks Brand, Cam Smith and Cody Johnson all made plays late to ensure the Eagle season continues for at least 3 more games.
Johnson finished with 18 while Brand and Smith each had 11.
Falkner is taking on West Union Thursday at 8 with a spot in the tournament finals on the line.
