Blue Mountain wins thriller against Ashland to advance in state playoffs
Blue Mountain got their first taste of a trip to the Big House last season. If their Monday night game is any indication, they are hungry for more.
The Lady Cougars battled all night and overcame adversity in the final seconds to secure a win over Ashland and ensure their season continues.
Blue Mountain raced out to a 12-0 lead behind 6 early points from Tyesha Gillard and led 22-11 after the first quarter.
The Lady Blue Devils of Ashland fought back.
Ashland battled back to take the lead with 11 seconds to play on a pair of Cherica Cheairs before Blue Mountain’s NaNa Daniels took the ball down the court for a shot/rebound/putback series that sealed the 62-61 victory.
Blue Mountain moves on to face Simmons in a road playoff game in round two.
