Ripley returns home as three Tippah volleyball teams open October

Ripley brings its newly secured region volleyball championship home Thursday, Oct. 1, hosting Clarksdale at 6 p.m. while Pine Grove welcomes Saltillo and Falkner faces Biggersville at the same hour. The three home matches lead Tippah County’s next varsity slate after no completed result could be verified for Wednesday, Sept. 30.

The Lady Tigers swept Senatobia Tuesday to secure their second consecutive Region 3-4A title. Thursday offers another meeting with a Clarksdale team Ripley beat 3–0 on Sept. 10, according to its dated schedule. Walnut’s next listed volleyball match is at home against Leland on Saturday, Oct. 3, at noon, following the Wildcats’ 8–0 district campaign. All times are Central.

Friday’s schedule stretches from cross-country courses to football fields. Blue Mountain, Pine Grove, Ripley and Walnut list the Pontotoc Invitational next. The organizer’s meet page specifies Friday, Oct. 2, at Cherry Creek Orchard, superseding Saturday dates still displayed on team calendars. Ripley’s 4A races start at 9 a.m. for girls and 9:40 for boys; the 1A–3A girls and boys races start at 11:20 a.m. and noon. Falkner’s next listed meet is the Oct. 22 regional at New Albany’s BNA Park, with girls at 11 a.m. and boys at 11:30.

At 7 p.m. Friday, Ripley hosts Clarksdale in football, Walnut welcomes Ashland for homecoming and Falkner visits Smithville. Falkner enters after its 42–34 victory over East Union; Ripley seeks a rebound from a 31–21 loss to Booneville.

Golf begins earlier: North Tippah’s calendar lists Falkner’s girls division match in Booneville Thursday at 8:30 a.m. and Walnut’s girls tournament there that day without a start time. Falkner’s boys division match follows Oct. 13 in Booneville at 8:30 a.m.; opponents are unlisted. No next event is posted for Ripley’s boys or girls, Pine Grove’s boys or Walnut’s boys.

Basketball’s first posted dates extend into November. On Nov. 3, Blue Mountain hosts Thrasher and Pine Grove visits Houlka, each with girls at 6 p.m. and boys at 7:30; Ripley hosts Falkner’s girls at 6. Walnut’s boys host Tishomingo County Nov. 7 at 1:30 p.m. On Nov. 10, Ripley’s boys host New Albany at 7 and Falkner’s boys host Myrtle at 7:30. Walnut’s girls host Corinth Nov. 12 at 6.

Before those games, Ripley’s soccer teams host Caledonia Oct. 26, girls at 5 p.m. and boys at 7. The first posted 2027 baseball dates are Falkner at Tremont Feb. 22, 6 p.m.; Walnut at Biggersville Feb. 27, 2:30 p.m.; Ripley at Pontotoc March 5, 7 p.m.; and Pine Grove against Lexington March 20, 10 a.m., at an unspecified neutral venue. Blue Mountain lists no next baseball game.

In softball, Ripley hosts New Albany Feb. 9 at 6:30 p.m.; Falkner hosts New Site Feb. 19 at 5:30; Pine Grove visits Tupelo Christian Prep Feb. 26 at 5; and Walnut hosts New Site March 16 at 5:30. Blue Mountain has no next game listed. No next events are posted for Blue Mountain’s boys and girls track teams, Ripley’s boys and girls tennis teams, Walnut’s boys tennis or dance team, or the listed Falkner, Pine Grove and Walnut slow-pitch programs.
