Blue Mountain, Pine Grove and Walnut have state cross-country competition next on their calendars Thursday, Oct. 29, before Tippah County’s football teams take the field that evening. The championship races at Choctaw Trails in Clinton begin a stretch that brings basketball openers and Ripley’s return to the soccer pitch.
No completed varsity result from Wednesday, Oct. 28, was verified by Thursday morning. This outlook covers the next posted events; all times are Central.
The MHSAA timetable places Walnut’s Class 2A girls race at 11:20 a.m. and boys at 11:55. Blue Mountain and Pine Grove’s Class 1A races follow: girls at 12:40 p.m., boys at 1:15. Ripley’s next meet is Saturday, Oct. 31, at the same course, with Class 4A girls at 2 p.m. and boys at 2:35. These are classification race times; individual entries were not confirmed.
Thursday night, Falkner hosts Potts Camp for Senior Night and Walnut visits Baldwyn, both at 7. Ripley’s schedule also lists a 7 p.m. Thursday trip to unbeaten Senatobia. The South Tippah calendar still places that game Friday; spectators should confirm the date with the school.
Basketball fills Saturday’s daytime schedule. Falkner’s boys are listed at Alcorn Central at 9:30 a.m., Ripley’s boys at Corinth at 10 and Pine Grove’s boys at East Union at noon. Walnut’s girls visit Saltillo at 10:30 a.m.; Pine Grove’s girls are listed at Hatley at 1:15 p.m.
Blue Mountain opens at home against Thrasher Tuesday, Nov. 3, with girls at 6 p.m. and boys at 7:30. That evening, Falkner’s girls visit Ripley: North Tippah lists 6 p.m., while MaxPreps lists 6:30. Walnut’s boys next host Tishomingo County Nov. 7 at 1:30 p.m. on MaxPreps; the district lists the combined event beginning at 10 a.m.
Ripley’s soccer teams next travel to Pontotoc Nov. 3, with girls at 5 p.m. and boys at 7, according to their schedules.
The next posted baseball dates extend into 2027: Ripley at Alcorn Central Feb. 6, 2 p.m.; Walnut hosting Kossuth Feb. 20, 2 p.m.; Falkner at Tremont Feb. 22, 6 p.m.; and Pine Grove against Lexington March 20, 10 a.m., at an unspecified neutral site.
Softball’s first listed dates are Ripley hosting New Albany Feb. 9, 6:30 p.m.; Falkner hosting New Site Feb. 19, 5:30; Pine Grove at Baldwyn Feb. 20, 12:30; and Walnut hosting New Site March 16, 5:30.
