Falkner gets dominating performance in win over Thrasher
Winning the turnover battle and having more big plays than your opponent is a recipe for success in football.
Consider both missision accomplished for Falkner on Friday night.
The Eagles created 5 turnovers and hit on 5 touchdown passes over 25 yards from Benton Hopkins en route to a 40-6 thrashing of the visiting Thrasher Rebels.
After trading out turnovers on their opening drives, Falkner got on the board first with a highlight reel run from Cody Johnson on 4th down for a 6-0 lead.
After Thrasher answerd back with a 23 yard touchdown of their own to tie the score at 6, Falkner would rattle off 34 unanswered points to keep themselves alive in the 1-1A playoff picture.
Hopkins threw a pair of touchdowns to Austin Sullivan, who also had a pair of interceptions, and a pair to Zay Hudson, who picked off a pass as well. Jordan Peterson also had a touchdown reception.
Linebacker Ryan Caviness had 14 tackles, 2 sacks and a forced fumble. Shane O’Dell had a pair of fumble recoveries.
The Eagles moves to 2-5 on the season (2-2 district). They are on the road at Biggersville next Friday.
