Falkner

First year coach Ty Priest leads new look Eagles into 2019

Falkner will have an entirely new look in 2019 with a new head coach, new coordinator and several new faces starting on Friday night.

The Eagles lost 100% of their quarterback production with the graduation of Lane Elliott as well as 90% of their overall total yards production from a season ago.

Replacing those offensive numbers for coach Priest will be first year signal caller Cody Johnson, a converted wide receiver. He will be joined in the backfield by Zion Grizzard who brings 589 career yards and 4 touchdowns to the table. Jeremiah Mitchell will be back as the most experienced offensive lineman along with Ryan Cavniness, Bryce Damstra and Shane O’Dell.

On defense, the Eagles do return several key contributors from a season ago for first year coordinator Brad Barnes. Caviness is the leading tackler from a season ago. Austin Sullivan and Zay Hudson are returning defensive backs. Grizzard and Johnson both saw starts in a majority of last years games.

For the Eagles to find success in 2019, they will need to gel together early in a season that sees a rivalry game in the Joe Bowl and two open dates. They open the season August 23rd at Northpoint Christian.
