The Lady Eagles and new head coach Brad Barnes got off to a strong start in the 2022 season, taking out Houlka at home on Tuesday in sweeping fashion.
Falkner took the contest 25-12, 25-11, 25-19.
The Lady Eagles cruised to victory in the first two sets, taking advantage of Houlka service errors and building big leads that allowed first year coach Barnes to play multiple players. He was able to get 11 girls into the contest.
In the third set, Falkner trailed 6-3 before battling back to take a 12-8 advantage with Alley Bates on serve.
Houlka retook the lead and the momentum with their backs against the wall down 2-0 in the match, but Falkner’s Chloe Wilbanks had back to back aces to regain the lead. A Maggie King kill gave Falkner an 18-17 lead that they would not relinquish.
Kelsey Rogers took the serve with the Lady Eagles leading 22-19 and closed out the match with 3 straight aces to end the contest.
The Lady Eagles are back in action Thursday at Myrtle.
