Pine Grove had a constant refrain last year: wait till next year.
If their Summer baseball success is any indication, the wait was worth it.
They started almost exclusively underclassmen, including multiple junior high players, last year. That young group made a run to the playoffs and was in first place in the division with a week to go in the season.
That bunch has grown up.
They have quality pitching, solid bats and a desire to get better. And that is a recipe for success.
They will still be young this upcoming year as they again will start multiple freshmen and sophomores. But, this year, they will be favored to win their division and compete in the playoffs.
The growth this team has shown from the beginning of last baseball season to know is phenomenal.
Let’s hope, for entertainment sake, they keep growing.
