Former Ripley standout Amelya Hatch named JUCO player of the week

Ripley Ripley Lady Tiger Amelya Hatch was named the Mississippi JUCO player of the week recently.

Fulton, Miss. – Itawamba Community College sophomore guard Amelya Hatch has been named Women’s Basketball Player of the Week by the Mississippi Association of Community Colleges Conference (MACCC).

The Ripley native helped the Lady Indians (9-3, 4-0 MACCC) earn two big conference wins last week over Coahoma Community College and East Central Community College.

Hatch led the Lady Indians to a 73-66 victory over Coahoma by picking up the first triple-double of her ICC career. She scored a team-high 18 points while grabbing 10 rebounds and having 10 assists.

In the 60-42 road win over East Central, Hatch scored eight points and added eight assists and three rebounds.  

This season, Hatch is averaging 11.1 points per game. She and the Lady Indians will host Hinds Community College tonight (Tuesday) at 5:30 p.m. for another conference game.
