Blue Mountain Christian Men’s Soccer opens season with 2-0 win over LSU Alexandria
Blue Mountain, Miss. — Blue Mountain Christian University men’s soccer team opened the 2026 season with a 2-0 victory over LSU Alexandria on Saturday at Topper Pitch. The Toppers relied on two goals by Dipanda Silva Jr. and a solid defensive effort to secure the win in their home opener.
LSU Alexandria applied early pressure, taking three shots in the first eight minutes, but the BMCU defense held firm. The Generals’ first scoring chance came in the 26th minute when Erick Braga’s shot went high. Goalkeeper Luan Nascimento made his first save shortly after, stopping a shot from Thiago Lopes in the 28th minute.
Just before halftime, Pedro Pina connected with Silva, who scored with 25 seconds remaining to give the Toppers a 1-0 lead. In the second half, LSU Alexandria pressed, earning three consecutive corner kicks between the 56th and 57th minutes. Silva nearly added a second goal on a penalty kick in the 62nd minute, but his attempt went wide.
Nascimento kept the Toppers ahead with a save in the 76th minute. The hosts began creating scoring chances late, with Samuel Davi Cavalcante testing the goalkeeper in the 75th minute and Alfonso Vasquez forcing another save in the 79th. Silva sealed the victory in the 87th minute, setting up Cavalcante for his second assist of the match as Silva scored his second goal.
Nascimento finished with three saves for the shutout, his team’s first win of the season. Pina and Cavalcante each recorded an assist, while Silva’s two goals led BMCU to a season-opening victory.
