Blue Mountain Christian sweeps Stillman in season opener doubleheader
Tuscaloosa, Alabama — Blue Mountain Christian started the 2026 softball season with a doubleheader sweep against Stillman College on Friday. The Toppers won the first game 8-1 and the second 6-1.
In the opener, BMCU took an early lead and maintained control throughout the game. The team finished with 11 hits, led by Maryn Macri, who went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs. Aspen Teague added two hits, including a double, while Mikaylah Fuqua reached base multiple times, drove in a run and scored twice. Vaye Savage contributed an RBI to extend the lead.
Madison Montgomery pitched a complete game for BMCU, allowing one run on seven hits with four strikeouts in seven innings. Her steady performance kept the Tigers in check and secured the victory.
The Toppers continued their strong play in the second game, winning 6-1. Maryn Macri led offensively again with two triples and three RBIs. Anna Harrison had a multi-hit game and scored twice, while Karen Wisher added an RBI double. Aspen Teague contributed two more hits to maintain offensive pressure.
Neely Cooper pitched a complete game for BMCU, allowing just one run on five hits, with five strikeouts. Her performance helped preserve the lead and secure the sweep.
Blue Mountain Christian will face Stillman in another doubleheader Saturday, looking to build on their successful start to the season.
