Blue Mountain finishes fourth at SSAC Men’s Golf Championship
Greenville, Ala. — Blue Mountain College’s men’s golf team finished fourth out of 10 teams at the SSAC Men’s Golf Championship held at the RTJ Golf Trail in Greenville, Alabama. The tournament featured three rounds on a par-72 course stretching 6,864 yards, known for its difficulty and status as one of the NAIA’s premier conference championships.
The Toppers were in strong position early in the competition but ultimately settled for fourth place in a highly competitive field. Cobey Riddle and Alex Nordstrom led the team, each finishing tied for fifth with a three-round total of 219. Riddle posted rounds of 71, 71 and 77, while Nordstrom shot 70, 76 and 73, navigating a deep field to secure top-five finishes.
Simon Meiby and Damil Ataullah also contributed solid performances, tying for 26th with totals of 230. Meiby’s rounds included 81, 75 and 74, while Ataullah opened with a 71 and posted scores of 81 and 78 in subsequent rounds. Jeremiah Bell finished 44th overall with a total of 249 after rounds of 82, 80 and 87. Shameer Jayram played in rounds two and three, tallying 78 and 74 for a two-round total of 152 after entering the lineup following the first round. Acen Lambert participated in the first round, shooting 82 before being substituted.
Head coach Kevin Barefield was recognized as SSAC Co-Coach of the Year for his efforts this season. The team’s fourth-place finish demonstrates their competitiveness and readiness for the upcoming NAIA National Championship, gaining valuable experience against top conference rivals.
