Four Tippah County baseball players on statewide “players to watch” list
Four Tippah County baseball players were on the Missisippi Gridiron statewide players to watch list.
The players that made the list are Walnut’s Riley Robinson, Pine Grove’s Kyle Thrasher, Cason Jones and Carson Rowland.
Robinson, a senior for the Wildcats, hit .351 last season and was as standout pitcher. He struck out 73 battes and posted a 1.56 ERA on the season.
Thrasher, a senior starting pitcher and utility player for the Panthers, hit .348 last season with 10 doubles. On the mound, he was 5-1 with a 1.80 ERA. He struck out 74 batters.
Jones, a junior for the Panthers, was a starting pitcher and infielder. He struck out 57 batters and went 6-1 on the season. He led the Panthers with 16 stolen bases.
Rowland is one of only 40 sophmores selected on the list. He is a starting outfielder for the Panthers. He had four outfield assists last season to go with 15 stolen bases and 6 homeruns, including a national high school record 3 in one inning.
