Pine Grove, Walnut compete in Myrtle summer league games
The Wildcats and Panthers took part in the games at Myrtle summer league Tuesday in an all day basketball affair. There was both varsity and JV action and multiple games from both squads.
Pine Grove displayed their you, at times playing lineups consisting of solely freshmen and below. They were competitive in their games and they will be led by their youth, including incoming freshman Carson Rowland who did the majority of the ball handling. The panthers will rely on the senior leadership of Scott Smithey this season to help set the tone for the younger players.
Walnut will rely very heavily on their seniors. Kevin Hurley, Khris Perry and Cade Robinson will help set the tempo for this squad. Hurley is a beast on the low block and we had him unofficially with 22 rebounds in the equivalent of 1 game. Perry is almost always the most athletic player on the floor and when he is in attack mode the Wildcats are better for it.
