Porterfield’s big quarter helps Wildcats extend season in to playoffs
It is officailly win or go home season with playoff basketball upon us.
Walnut sharpshooter Brantley Porterfield and his Wildcat teammates decided winning sounded better than going home.
Porterfield put up a 24 point quarter on Tuesday against East Union and the Cats punched their ticket to the 2A playoffs with a 62-43 victory over the Urchins in the 1-2A Region Tournament.
Walnut built a 14-4 first quarter lead thanks to a 10-0 run to end the period and never looked back.
On the game, the Wildcats connected on 11 three pointers led by Porterfield with 8.
Brantley finished the contest with 30 points in three quarters of action. Ty Dowdy added 7 points while Jack Pulse put up 6.
The Wildcats advance to take on Baldwyn on Thursday.
